Restaurants Want to Make Temporary Outdoor Dining Permanent

According to cnbc.com, many restaurants were able to set up temporary outdoor dining spaces on sidewalks and even streets and parking lots, but restaurants are pushing to keep those vital tables permanently. San Francisco and New York city voted to keep those spaces as permanent dining; 91% of Fairfax, CA survey respondents said they were in favor of keeping dining “parklets.” Restaurant owners say outdoor dining helped them stay in business when indoor dining capacity was slashed in favor of social distancing, but some residents complain about noise and losing parking spaces.
